Solutions are a four piece melodic punk rock band from Cardiff who originally formed in May 2008 as a three piece.
The band take inspiration in
both method and aesthetic from their forward thinking punk and post hardcore
forefathers, with the spirit and visceral intelligence of bands like Small
Brown Bike, Fugazi, At The Drive-In, Manic Street Preachers, Husker Du and
American Steel all apparent in Solutions artistic endeavors to date. A resolute
persistence and a strong DIY approach has already seen Solutions share the
stage with established and electrifying acts such as Hot Water Music, Future Of
The Left, Paint It Black, Fake Problems, The Misfits, Haunts, Strike Anywhere,
Pulled Apart By Horses, Crazy Arm, Shaped By Fate, Blackhole and more.
As well as playing their part in some incredible live shows, Solutions have
also received regular airplay on BBC Radio Wales thanks to some heavy support
in the form of Adam Walton, whom the band recorded a studio session for in
January 2009, and also from Bethan Elfyn, whom the band recorded a live session
for as part of a BBC Introducing show held at Musicbox Cardiff in May 2009.
Solutions released their debut album ‘Before The Roars’ on 25th November 2009
for free via the internet. A limited physical release on CD was released in February
2010 to coincide with tours. Their follow up in April 2010 was a
limited split CD with The Goodtime Boys which sold out within weeks. The tracks
from the split were subsequently released as ‘End’s Meet’, the first release to
feature the bands new line up following the departure of founding member &
original bassist Kai Woolen-Lewis.
New bassist Andrew Edwards and guitarist Rhys Pearce were formerly in the
South Wales melodic punk band Haddonfield who regularly played shows with
Solutions.
